My Energy
"I may be a hoe, but I also create films."
I started my film hustle back in middle school. I would always take on the roles of director, writer, editor, but most of the time, an actor.
In Grade 8, I officially entered the world of theater. It made me fall in love with being in front of the camera and under the spotlight, which pushed me to want to pursue acting. However, during Senior High, a conflict arose when I wrote a screenplay for our class presentation. For the first time,
I didn’t take part in the acting department. This time, I stayed behind the camera. And you know what? I fell in love with the lens more than the spotlight.
Thus, in college, although my major was not film, my program somehow catered to film subjects and their fundamentals.
Because of this, I still receive academic support aligned with filmmaking.
In 2021, I felt encouraged and confident enough to join Cinemalaya—one of the most prestigious film festivals in the Philippines—for their short feature contest. And mind you, this was once again my first time joining a film contest outside the academic zone (lol, tapang ko). Although I wasn’t well acquainted with how their system works, I was still adamant about joining. I wanted to see how far my energy could go and to find out if I’m director-friendly (haha). Besides, there’s no harm in trying, right?
Ergo, I present to every one of you my energies, my crafts, my works, my films—or, in my own dictionary, my mad political artworks.
I appreciate violent reactions, suggestions, reviews, and all sorts of commentaries, for I know these will serve as my foundation in strengthening my main character development in the world of filmmaking.
